Chatty Morna

Ian has been badgering me to start writing in our blog, but really I have been so busy of late, it is hard to find the time, but I am going to try as things start to slow down a bit! Having said that I have just checked our bookings for September and already there are 80 bookings so far, so no chance of a rest just at the moment!

We have had a fabulous season so far and been lucky enough to welcome some lovely guests from all over the globe including, Italy, USA, Japan, Singapore, France, Romania, Germany, and also from many UK destinations. I just love chatting to everyone (Ian says I talk too much) and getting to know everyone….it is amazing what I find out in a very short time!

This year, Ian and I had a wonderful surprise as our youngest daughter Sophie had a baby girl in June. We were so thrilled to have a little granddaughter who is adored by her big brother Angus. I have been delighted to show all our interested guests pictures of their progress!! We had a lovely week with them when they were down from Edinburgh recently. I try to get up to see them on a monthly basis but because we have been so busy here, it has not been easy.

Sadly, my mum has been quite ill this year and spent several weeks in the Borders General Hospital – Melrose.  They certainly did their magic and she is now home and doing well with lovely carers. Grateful thanks to all the doctors and nurses who took great care of her.

We have had an amazing season at the Open Air Theatre this year……thankfully the weather stayed warm and dry for most of the acts, but some did get rained on, but this did not dampeJack Lowden in Dunkirk (2017)n the spirit of the events.  Looking forward to next year and hoping to get some equally great acts coming to Scarborough.

Our new multiplex cinema is on its way and should be ready for business in 2018. We still have the Hollywood Plaza  and have recently been to see Dunkirk which I would recommend to all.  I have a vested interest in this film as one of Sophie`s (youngest daughter) friends plays one of the spitfire pilots – Jack Lowden from Oxton in the Scottish Borders – Sophie went to school with him! He is an up and coming young actor with a great future ahead of him.

There has been much ado at the Stephen Joseph Theatre also and so far all their plays have exceeded expectations already. Little voice has been a particular success and sadly we missed it – hoping to see all the others.
